Width =   TV Screen wall. Left-to-Right (appx)
Length =   Room Length. Front-to-Back (appx).
Height =   Floor-to-ceiling (appx).

Choose Yes if your Home Theatre seating will be hard against rear wall.
Choose No if seating is 1 Mtr or more forward of rear wall.

Tips:

  1. Choosing Combination of Both (recommended) will allow full custom selections from our entire range. Our popular combination is In-Wall for Front & Centre speakers and In-Ceiling for all Rears.
  2. In Australia, most internal walls (walls that divide rooms) and external walls (walls that divide outside to inside) are cavity stud walls with either 75mm or 100mm cavity. In this case, all JENSEN In-Wall speakers are designed to perform in these walls and you should select All In-Wall or Combination of both.
  3. If your home is an older home your external wall (walls that divide outside to inside) may be "double-brick" or "solid-brick" and therefore may have plaster adhered directly to brick. In this case with no wall cavity, you cannot use In-Wall speakers and should select All In-Ceiling.
  4. Alternatively, if you are able to re-orientate your room so that TV/Screen wall is on/against an internal cavity wall, you should then select All In-Wall or Combination of both. If you are unsure if your chosen TV/Screen wall is cavity or solid, you may drill a small 3mm hole into your plaster. After the 10mm plaster thickness you will either reach brick or cavity. You may then insert a straightened coat hanger to determine cavity depth if necessary.

Choose Combination of both if you are able to locate Speakers in walls and/or ceiling. Our popular combination is In-Wall for Front & Centre speakers and In-Ceiling for all Rears.

Choose All In-Wall if you prefer all speakers to locate in walls. Our In-Wall speakers require stud wall cavity of 62 or 75mm (min). Selecting All In-Wall will blank out all In-Ceiling speaker options.

Choose All In-Ceiling if you prefer all Speakers to locate in ceiling. Or, if front TV wall is solid ie: solid stone, solid brick, feature brick etc. Selecting All In-Ceiling will blank out all In-Wall speaker options.

As a rule of thumb,

2 Channels

Is designed to Stereo-boost your TV. TVs tiny inbuilt speakers these days simply don't match todays' explosive audio soundtracks from TV/Foxtel/Netflix/Stan etc etc. With a Stereo amplifier, you just need 1 pair (2 speakers) Front speakers. Add a Subwoofer (recommended) and this becomes 2.1 (2 speakers + subwoofer).

5 Channels

Most popular for 9~20 m2 rooms or for more cost-effective setups. With a 5 channel AV Receiver, for Front speakers you must have 3 speakers in total (3 channels) ie: 1 pair for Front and 1 single for Centre. Note, Elite-303 In-Wall has these combined into just 2 speakers for the ultimate setup. For Rear Speakers you must have 2 speakers in total (2 more channels totalling 5). Add a Subwoofer (must) and this becomes 5.1 or with two Subwoofers for 5.2.

7 Channels

Very popular for 20~30 m2 rooms and for Movie lovers. Same as above 5 channels but with an extra 2 channels totalling 7. These extra channels provide for extra "sound effects" resulting in a way bigger Movie experience. These extra channels are either:

  1. Middle channels requiring a 7.1 AV Receiver (7 channels + 1 sub) or 7.2 AV Receiver (7 channels + 2 subs). In this case choose 7 channels.
  2. Dolby Atmos channels requiring a 5.1.2 AV Receiver (5 channels + 1 sub + 2 Atmos channels) or 5.2.2 AV Receiver (5 channels + 2 subs + 2 Atmos channels). In this case choose 5 channels then select YES to next question using Dolby Atmos.
9 Channels Ideal for 30+ m2 and for High-end Movie setups. Same as 7 channels but with an extra 2 channels totalling 9.
  1. Middle channels requiring a 9.1 AV Receiver (9 channels + 1 sub) or 9.2 AV Receiver (9 channels + 2 subs). In this case choose 9 channels.
  2. Dolby Atmos channels requiring a 7.1.2 AV Receiver (7 channels + 1 sub + 2 Atmos channels) or 7.2.2 AV Receiver (7 channels + 2 subs + 2 Atmos channels). In this case choose 7 channels then select YES to next question using Dolby Atmos.

Tips:

  1. Need help choosing the right AV Receiver?   Email this form upon completion for our unbiased opinion on what brands and models will work best in your room, or for any other questions you may have.
  2. It's not always about the quantity of channels.   A lower cost AV Receiver with fewer channels (say, 5) needing less speakers, but upscaling to a bigger Subwoofer instead will always provide a way bigger audio performance.
  3. The Dynamic Lift Effect.    By upscaling to a bigger Subwoofer or twin Subwoofers, you add enormous Bass potential. The trick is you dial the Subwoofer/s volume knob up and the frequency knob down. In doing so, your Subwoofer/s will reproduce the super-low deep Bass - which is what JENSEN Subwoofers love to do. So when Bass effects kick in (think Dinosaurs, explosions, thunder, V-8's, gun-fire, earthquakes, tense-scenes or a stomp of an AC/DC kick drum) it really kicks in! At JENSEN, we affectionately call this "the Dynamic Lift Effect" as these explosive dynamics can almost lift you out of your seat!

The Dolby Atmos home experience is extremely powerful. It combines traditional Home Theatre speaker layouts with an additional pair of In-Ceiling speakers to create a vertical plane of sound above the listener. Think helicopters, rockets, bombs, bullets - in fact any sound that travels from up to down or vice-versa. Your room fills with realistic, multidimensional sound that places you directly in the centre of the entertainment experience. In either case you don't need special discs/content etc. Traditional "middle" channels do similar but in a different format.

What do we think? Many AV Receiver brands in Australia use Dolby Atmos and many use traditional "middle" channels/speakers for the 6th and 7th "effects" channels. At JENSEN, our Speakers are designed for big - performance and both formats work perfectly with our gear. We believe Front, Centre and Subwoofer speakers are way more important than "effects" speakers therefore we recommend you choose an AV Receiver with low-distortion, higher power and desired features rather than quantity of rear effects channels.

We hope you like Bass because we certainly do.
Identical in dimension apart from height, both appear understated and designed to sit anywhere in the room in full view or hidden under stairs or behind a couch. 7 coats of Matt Black paint with Black glass tops both models appear understated - until they switch on.

Both perform low, deep and are serious performers equally comfortable at Low or High volumes, Rock, Classical and of course Explosive Home Theatre. And just in case you like to turn it up ... and we suggest you do - they are built like tanks, virtually indestructible with an "industry best" 10 Year Warranty (1 year amplifier). Both stand upright (recommended) or can lay-on-side for "In-Cabinet" installation (see Instruction Manual)

Which one's for me?  Simply put, do you want V-6 or V-8 performance? Both are suitable to any sized room.

With deep, deep Bass, room acoustics can play a part in spreading the sound. Ideally, you should not be able to determine where the Bass is coming from immersing yourself within it. Dual Subwoofers assist this and play a part in reducing the acoustic flat-spots often found in a large room while at the same time advancing performance to levels purring like a big V-8 doing 100kph through to "nightclub levels".

Tips:

  1. If using dual Subwoofers, we recommend using identical models and not one of each. This way, Bass will "blend" and will appear to operate as one.
  2. You don't actually need to run them hard at all to enjoy dual Subwoofers. Even at soft volumes they immerse and blend to provide a soft "pat" of Bass way below volume levels that would annoy any dinner table conversation.
  3. There are two ways of connecting dual Subwoofers:
    1. If your AV Receiver has a .2 (point 2) meaning 2 Subwoofer outputs, simply connect a single RCA to RCA cable from AV Receiver to each Subby.
    2. JENSEN Subs can be "daisy-chained" together. Simply connect an RCA to RCA cable from one to another and to as many as you are game. Set them all to "auto" so they all operate together as one.
